5 REASONS to feel thankful, NOW!

  1. You have a precious human existence: Compared to all other life forms, being born human can be considered rare. It is our responsibility to make the most of it, to make sure that we live up to our potential. How high will a tree grow? As high as it possibly can!
  2. You don’t live in a war zone or under an oppressive government: This may be perceived differently depending on your political orientation but for the most part, and for most people probably reading this, this holds true. Imagine what it would be like to live day in and day out with bombs exploding around you, not knowing if you will live or die, or even where you will get water. No place is safe. Home has lost its essence.
  3. You have people that love you: No matter how much of an asshole you may be, you still have people that love you and care about your future and the decisions you make. Some people have huge circles of family and friends to fall back on and some don’t. But, if we don’t, maybe we could ask ourselves, why. A good exercise for the ego.
  4. You can decide to make a change at any time: We are really only limited by our own imagination. We live in a society such that, if we want to do something out of the ordinary or even within the ordinary, we have the opportunity to do so. Yes, some people in society have circumstances that can hold them back but the potential is there for all of us if we just use our imagination and gumption. It has been proven time and time again and will continue to be. Humans are amazing!
  5. If you want to learn something, you can: I mean think about all the resources we have available to us. We can get literature on any subject from around the world at any time by either paying for it or not. There are a lot of resources out there to learn any subject you can think of. I do it all time, still, and always will. Didn’t finish high school? Go to Khan Academy and take some courses. It’s free and it’s good! You can prepare for the GED test there, I’m sure. Hell, you can even learn differential equations, if you prefer. And not to mention You Tube! I mean, really? Everything is on there. If someone has done it, it’s there. There are so many ways to educate yourself these days and what makes it so valuable is that the high educational content is no longer confined to the universities or to people with a good public library system. You know how many textbooks I have purchased on Amazon.com? Yeah, a lot! Education is so important and so readily available to all of us and pretty soon, internet will be free for everyone on the planet. How about that, huh? And that will be the beauty of the free-market at work because we can’t rely on government now, can we?
